Janna Barker dreamed of an Olympic gold medal from the first time she laced up her ice skates, but her dreams are threatened when the humans of earth are invited to participate in an inter-planetary skating competition on Kalter, a distant planet. As if learning a new set of skating rules and finding a good coach isn’t challenging enough, lack of funding threatens to knock her out of the competition. Janna’s parents can no longer afford to pay for coaching or space travel. To bankroll her training, her overbearing stage-mother arranges for her to be married to a wealthy citizen of Kalter. After considering her options Janna agrees, deciding to use him to further her skating ambitions and pay her way, but she doesn’t expect him to be so good looking, or have such a great sense of humor. Will she be able to keep her focus on the first place prize?
